Polar Vortex Baby


So Polar Vortex 2017 has hit Minnesota. And on top of that Winter Storm Decima is coming! We're supposed to be pelted with ice and snow tonight and then have temperatures down to -23 degree Fahrenheit tomorrow. Mmmm. I look forward to going to work at 4:30am. At least I don't have to drive far! 


My New Year Resolution is to start exercising more often. So in January I'm hoping I'll have a lot more time to listen to audiobooks while I'm slaving away in the gym. I do better when I have a goal in mind, so I've decided to train for the Itascatur. It's a 100 mile bike ride around Lake Itasca State Park (that's where the headwaters to the Mississippi are). It's in September, so that gives me plenty of time to get rid of the extra chubbiness and figure out how to train for the hills. Distance I can do. It's the hills that kill me. I wish I had someone to accompany me on the ride, though!

  1. That storm is heading toward us today - yuck! The bike race sounds like both an exciting challenge and a great way to fit for audiobook in your schedule. I loved North and South!

  2. A bit of snow here, but mostly rain. Now just keeping our fingers crossed for not too much snow on Christmas as we have to travel...or will, if the weather holds.

  3. Wow, those temps are down there...and I complain about our 40 degrees...LOL.

    Great resolution for the New Year! I need to make that one, too. I have an exercise bike in my bedroom...so why does it just sit there most of the time?

  4. I know that I need to exercise more too. I have had the worst back trouble that has developed into chronic pain, and I know that strengthening my core would do wonders if I could just get well enough to move this bus. :)
    Audio books is a great idea for gym time. I hope you reach your goals.
    In the woods is on my TBR and I look forward to seeing what you think of it.
    Damn. North and South on Serial. What's that? 250+ serials? It's a great way of tackling those chunky reads though, isn't it?

    1. It's actually only 86 serials. :) But, yes, I chose it because of its length. Thought the serial reader app was a great way to get through some of the longer books that I feel intimidated to pick up.
