In Which Rachel Has her Last Day of Work

Yay! Friday was my last day of being a manager. I just can't wait to taste the freedom of not having to tell people what to do anymore! And I'm really looking forward to the spare time with which to study. Otherwise this week was uneventful. We had a snowstorm which made the drive home 3 times the length it should have been, and I had to shovel knee-high snow out of my driveway in the morning, but at least it was light snow. Sunday I'm looking forward to the Super Bowl. My nephew really wanted to go to a party, so I hunted one down and we'll have a good time. I'm rooting for the Panthers. Not because I know what I'm talking about, but because I'm a cat-person. And panthers are cool. I don't know who my 12 year old nephew is rooting for yet.

P. S. I know the Panthers lost. I wrote this on Friday.

    1. I loved iZombie. Highly recommended. It's pretty funny, and not too gory considering what it's about.

  2. Wow! You are reading a lot at once! I can't do that. One book at a time for me :) Enjoy! I hope you can stop by:

    1. Yeah, well, I try to have one audio, one fiction, one nonfiction, and one short story book going at once. Otherwise I don't get any short stories or non-fiction read.

    1. It was pretty good, but not good enough that you'd like it if it's not your type of book. :)

  5. I guess I'm pulling for the Panthers, just because it would be nice to see someone different win the game besides the same old, same old. Peyton Manning, blah, blah, blah. But really, I don't care and my wife and I will be hanging out with neighbors, so it all will be good. This afternoon, though, for the pre-game, I do plan on doing a little reading.

    1. I'm so happy about it. I've literally been jumping up and down today with the remembrance that I don't have to go to work tomorrow.

  7. Wow you read a lot of books at one time. I tried that and i ended up getting everything all mixed up. I am lucky in that i do read fast enough that i can squeeze in lots of different books. I am not watching the game but I am reading.

    1. I'm pretty good at keeping it straight. But I do get worse and worse with time, then I need to simplify my life. Then I start all over again working my way up.

If it weren't for my nephew, I'd be reading and studying.

  10. I need to get around to reading The Aeronaut's Windlass. I hope you enjoyed it.

Unemployment for me was not voluntary. It sucks because I can't pay my bills. I hope you have a much more pleasant experience.

    1. Yeah, there are definitely good and bad points to being unemployed. My outlook is improved by the fact that it was voluntary - but I also have to live with my parents in order to pay my bills. Also, I'm working part time - I'm just not a full-time manager anymore. There's always the chance I won't be able to find a job when I get my EMT license, and then I'll be in the same boat as you! There's a huge risk to this.

  11. I'll bet Mrs. Dalloway was wonderful on audio... Juliet Stevenson is a favorite narrator!

  12. I enjoyed Burning Midnight too. I have the latest Jim Butcher on my Kindle but haven't had a chance to read it yet. I was reading and half-way watching the Super Bowl last night since I didn't really care who won. I do like Peyton Manning though. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  13. I know the Super Bowl is big in the States. We saw a little of it on our news, mostly the mid show and the adds! Enjoy all your reading this week. Nice to be manager free!

  14. Congrats on your last day of work! It looks like you did a lot of fun reading and watching this month :) I enjoyed the beginning of iZombie, but I was so unhappy with the way the romance subplot played out, that I abandoned it halfway through the first season.

    1. Too bad you abandoned it. I understand feeling frustration, though admittedly I didn't like that guy very much anyway. There are other, more interesting, men.
