This was a good month. I had three Thanksgiving celebrations: one with my cousins in Iowa, one with my boyfriend's family, and one with my own family & boyfriend. They were all a wonderful time. I'm pleased with my progress in my Abnormal Psychology class, work is going uneventfully, and I was very active on my blog. I tried to alternate between "lecture" posts and book review posts this month.
I participated in Nonfiction November with the ladies at Doing Dewey, Sophisticated Dorkiness, I'm Lost in Books, and Regular Rumination. During the month, I read 6 nonfiction books (Evil Hours, I am Malala, The Epic of Gilgamesh and Old Testament Parallels, Quiet, and The Archetypal Significance of Gilgamesh) and reviewed 7. I also enjoyed reading science fiction along with Rinn Reads. I was only able to read 2 science fiction books (The Martian and Shada), and review 3.
Next month I'll be joining the Christmas Spirit Reading Challenge hosted by The Christmas Spirit. So far, my plans are Little Women, by Louisa May Alcott; The Three Sisters, by Sonia Halbach; and The First Christmas, by Marcus Borg. Hopefully I'll be able to squeeze in some more. You can see other upcoming challenges in my Challenges Tab.
I've been having trouble with formatting this month. If I add a link or italicize after-the-fact, it sometimes turns out really big. In past months, I could resize it, but now it won't let me do that. It's irritating. Any advice?

Thanks for stopping by Deb!
DeleteYou did amazing with Nonfiction November! I intended to participate but then I started a big Harry Potter re-read and got sucked into that instead. Oh well. It happens!
ReplyDeleteYeah, HP is def more important than non-fiction. ;) I love HP, but I've read it too recently for a re-read.
DeleteI love the Christmas Reading Challenge... But I never read as much as I think I should. This year I hope to work my way through a collection of short Christmas stories... Maybe one each day.
ReplyDeleteI'm terrible at reading short stories. I have to really commit. Good luck!
DeleteSounds like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving...I like how every year, my celebrations are a little different, depending on what my kids are doing.
ReplyDeleteMy undergraduate degree was in psychology...and my master's is in counseling. Back in the day, Abnormal Psychology was a lot different. There were institutions for some disorders, which, in looking back, seem a little antiquated. Fortunately, I have kept up over the years, with my career in social work (now retired).
Enjoy your blogging...and thanks for visiting my blog.
Hi Laurel! Nice to see you on my blog!
DeleteOh, what a great thing to delve into all of those nonfiction titles! You got a lot of reading done. You have several books here that would interest me. I am glad I found you. New Bloglovin' follower who is looking forward to your posts.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Good to see a new follower. I'll find you on Bloglovin'
DeleteWhat a busy month! And all the books you got! Looks like it was a great November and I hope you have a great December. :) My Weekly Wrap-Up
ReplyDeleteThanks! I hope you have a great December too!
DeleteWow, you had a great month. Nonfiction November was the best! I loved the audio version of Far From the Madding Crowd - hope you do, too.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I really enjoyed Nonfiction November. :) I got Far From the Maddening Crowd on one of their daily deals, so it's not really on my immediate to-read list. But since it's a good reading I'll check it out sooner rather than later.
DeleteOh three Thanksgiving meals - what a way to really celebrate. Great work with the NF reading month. I loved both the book and movie of The Martian.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I know, right? And thanks about the NF reading month.
DeleteSounds like a good event! Happy reading this week, and Happy belated Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Happy belated Thanksgiving to you, too!
DeleteWow on the number of books you acquired.
ReplyDeleteAnd...congrats on doing non-fiction November. To me that would have been difficult.
ENJOY this week and all those wonderful books.
Nice blog, and welcome to Mailbox Monday.

My Mailbox Monday
Thanks Elizabeth. I do enjoy these memes if they're a welcoming community. Some of them are so gigantic that I feel lost in them! I have high hopes for this one.
DeleteWow, you really celebrated Thanksgiving to the fullest! I'm impressed. My gosh, it seems forever since I took abnormal psych; I was a psych major but didn't go further down that road after graduation.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it seems like a lot of book bloggers are psych majors. :) I'm hoping to go into psychiatry myself. But I'm really enjoying this psych class. I'm hoping I can fit in more as I take the prereqs to get into PA program.
DeleteThat looks like an amazing month of reading right there. Whoa. Very nicely done.
ReplyDeleteI did search a bit for changing the size of links within Blogger and while I couldn't find anything out there specific to changing that, I know that it can be done. If you do a search for changing only the font size in HTML, that it can be done, just on an individual post -- or within the template for all of your posts. At least...within individual posts, this is how you can change the font size with HTML: http://www.w3schools.com/tags/att_font_size.asp
Thanks for the search, Bryan. I didn't think about using the HTML directly. I figure the font size button should work just fine. :)
