Ditto for The Gambler - Grandmother's experience is a cautionary tale about how gambling is way too exciting to be good for us!Majorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05038437416575948282noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1951570178065446020.post-6973511425767628192016-12-27T08:49:55.608-06:002016-12-27T08:49:55.608-06:00Yeah, Moby Dick will be a long haul for me, especi...Yeah, Moby Dick will be a long haul for me, especially considering the other books I plan on reading this year. But it's one of those books I need to get to one day. The kids books will be easy to get to this year. lol Looking forward to those!Rachelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14629744053780948715noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1951570178065446020.post-35037290627593948252016-12-23T14:34:16.470-06:002016-12-23T14:34:16.470-06:00More power to you if you make it through Moby Dick...More power to you if you make it through Moby Dick! I just barely read Rebecca this past year and really enjoyed it; and The Witch of Blackbird Pond and The Wonderful Wizard of Oz are two of my very favorite books. What a great list of classics. Good luck with this reading challenge! :)Lark https://www.blogger.com/profile/13777891312147377769noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1951570178065446020.post-62176788545826373052016-12-23T09:38:37.355-06:002016-12-23T09:38:37.355-06:00Yeah, I'm struggling whether to choose the aud...Yeah, I'm struggling whether to choose the audio format so I can zone out the "boring" passages or if I should get a Norton Critical Edition so that I don't zone out the important passages. :) I've been zoning during my audiobooks a bit lately.Rachelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14629744053780948715noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1951570178065446020.post-38493750317412310122016-12-23T09:37:25.379-06:002016-12-23T09:37:25.379-06:00I purposely picking short books except a couple of...I purposely picking short books except a couple of notable exceptions like Moby Dick and Catch-22. And, of course, the Bible, which I'm reading for another challenge. We're allowed 3 kids books for the challenge, and I chose Little Women, Witch of Blackbird Pond, and Wonderful Wizard of Oz. I need to be able to fit in random stuff and fluff, too! But I hate to go a year without any plans to read the classics. I'll never get through my list of 50 this way!Rachelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14629744053780948715noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1951570178065446020.post-76558524505847308232016-12-23T08:29:58.033-06:002016-12-23T08:29:58.033-06:00I love Moby Dick - you just have to be patient wit...I love Moby Dick - you just have to be patient with all those chapters that are about the history of whaling and have nothing to do with the plot!Quiet and Busyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08806629594018349250noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1951570178065446020.post-83643766835223554552016-12-23T06:24:41.105-06:002016-12-23T06:24:41.105-06:00I've been hesitating if I will join this chall...I've been hesitating if I will join this challenge or not.
I haven't decided yet. I want to concentrate in non-fiction in 2017.
Childrens' Lit: The Withch of Blackbird Pond surprised me. Many lessons to be learned for young readers!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1951570178065446020.post-80013172740909459542016-12-23T05:28:39.429-06:002016-12-23T05:28:39.429-06:00This is a great list. I really should have though...This is a great list. I really should have thought of Moby Dick. I have had that on my TBR for ages. Maybe I will switch to include that.
You have your hands full of books this year with those two great challenges that you are hosting and now this too. I am going into this classics challenge the same as you, with the complete list, but happy if I just complete the six. Things get tough here when I box myself in too much. Inevitably some book or another always comes along during the year that I have to read right then and there.
Good luck with your goals.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
